New windows on a 1912 home

This month, Neil from Beavers Carpentry has been working to fit new windows on a traditional 1912 property.

These windows are top of the range sashes fitted with A rated glass and foam filled sealed in windows and a modern yet tasteful plastic trim.

We fitted the uPVC soffits and fascias three years ago. Zoom in on the pictures for a closer look at the bespoke Beavers Carpentry styling.

Tip: Measure, and measure again! If the measurements aren’t correct, the window won’t look like it fits correctly. “Over my 26 years of fitting windows I often see them measured poorly”, says Neil.

These windows have a centre wooden post (made by Neil!) to keep the original look and character of the property. It also helps to support the lintel above the window. Some other properties on the same street have poorly measured windows where the sashes are butted together, perhaps as a quick alternative to a properly structurally wood worked centre post.

The customer was working from home during the work so we used scaffolding and tarpauline to keep the work area and home dry, as warm and safe as possible.
